Greggs relocating to new unit opposite current branch in Northbrook Street, Newbury
A bakery chain is relocating from its current branch in Newbury town centre later this summer, we can reveal.
Newburytoday understands Greggs will move from its current branch at 77 Northbrook Street to a larger unit just across the road at 28-29 Northbrook Street, previously Maplin.
A planning application by the chain – known for its range of breads, savoury snacks and sandwiches – to modify its new premises to include non-illuminated fascia signage, a flush glazed aluminum shopfront and two air conditioning units is currently under consideration.
The building is currently vacant on the ground floor, with separate office accommodation above.
The chain’s current Northbrook Street branch, previously crowned ‘Best in the UK’, is still open to customers.
Its other Newbury branch on London Road reopened earlier this month after a brief renovation and is now trading as usual.
Greggs told newburytoday further details on the opening of the new branch will be announced soon.
