BBC Bargain Hunt star Thomas Forrester to host antiques evening in Woolton Hill

A BBC star is leading an antiques evening in North Hampshire this month.

Residents of Woolton Hill are looking forward to welcoming antiques expert Thomas Forrester, star of the hit BBC series Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip, on Wednesday, May 14.

He has also been at the helm of Special Auction Services in Newbury for almost 20 years.

Guests will be offered a glass of wine on arrival after which Mr Forrester will talk about his career, including anecdotes from his TV career.

Audience members will also be invited to bring forward their own treasures for a personal valuation.

Mr Forrester grew up in a family of collectors.

His great-grandfather had been a dealer in diamonds, and his grandfather was a widely travelled diplomat and collector.

With this background, he began his career at an auction house in Rome before moving to Phillips in Bath, where he worked his way up from a porter to a junior cataloguer.

And it was there through a chance invitation that his career at the BBC began.

The event will be held at St Thomas’ Church Hall, in Woolton Hill.

Doors open at 6pm. Admission costs £20 and all proceeds will go back to the church.
