BBC broadcaster joins Pangbourne Choral Society in Gilbert & Sullivan concert at Falkland Islands Memorial Chapel

Pangbourne Choral Society’s Summer Concert on Saturday is their first-ever performance of Gilbert & Sullivan operetta choruses.

The concert will also be different because the medley plots the story of G&S’ partnership that produced so many popular works.

This story takes the form of a narrative delivered by Andrew Peach, best known for his daily news and phone-in show on BBC Radio Berkshire. Each phase of the narrative is punctuated by a chorus written and performed at that stage of the G&S partnership. We will be taken on a journey from Trial by Jury to The Gondoliers, stopping off at various works along the way, including the Pirates of Penzance.

PCS chairman Brian Hoskins said: “This promises to be a real summer treat after all the doom and gloom of recent months. What better way to enjoy the summer season than with some music by G&S?

“And we look forward so much to Andrew Peach joining us for what promises to be a memorable and innovative occasion at the close of a very successful comeback season for PCS.”
