BBC's former head of religious broadcasting launches 42nd book
Thatcham man, David Winter aged 84, will launch his new book entitled - At the End of the day - Enjoying life in the Departure Lounge – tonight (Fri).
The book, starts life in the Broadway when Mr Winter catches sight of himself in the window of the Co-op store and realizes that he is old.
He said: “There has been a lot written and broadcast about the problems of an ageing population, care of the elderly, the cost of residential care and so on.
“The difference about this book is that It's actually written by someone who is old and is anxious to offer a much more positive and attractive picture of what it means to be in that 'departure lounge”.
He added: “The aim is to help people themselves and their relatives to be positive about being old.”
The launch of the book is being celebrated with an event at the Family Bookshop in the Broadway tonight (Fri).
The event is on from 7pm until 9pm and during the evening there will be a chance for people to meet Mr Winter, hear him read extracts from the book, ask questions and get copies of the book signed.
All are welcome to attend the event.
