Beech Hill man heartbroken after bronze statue theft

John Wait has appealed for the return of his £3,000 bronze stag statue which was stolen from his back garden

A BEECH Hill man has spoken of his "heartbreak" after a bronze statue of a stag was stolen from his home.

The stag was stolen from John Wait's garden in Vale View Drive sometime overnight between December 20 and December 21.

Mr Wait, aged 80, had bought the statue for his wife, Iris Wait, aged 77, about 15 to 17 years ago when she decided she wanted the statue rather than have a holiday.

The statue was worth £3,000.

Mrs Wait was visiting their daughter in Abu Dhabi when the recent theft happened and Mr Wait said that she was upset when he telephoned to tell her the bad news.

He said: "We have lived here for 29 years and we have not lost a button - it's a nice little village.

"It's the time we live in though."

Mr Wait is now making a fresh appeal for the return of his stag.

Anyone with information should contact Thames Valley Police on the non-emergency number 101.
