Beenham Primary school reopens after boiler fire

Pupils saw the half term holiday suddenly extended yesterday morning (Monday), after a faulty boiler forced a closure of the school, in freezing early morning temperatures.
Two pumps were called at 7.45am on Monday, from fire stations in Tilehurst and Whitley Wood, after smoke was seen coming from the school’s boiler room.
Firefighters, who discovered a small amount of smoke, used a hosereel to extinguish the fire, before checking and isolating the power and leaving the scene at 8.20am.
Information on the school's website confirmed the school would reopen today.
