Will Awberry Farm get its alcohol licence?

The controversial plan to turn a farm into a wedding venue in Beenham will know if it will be allowed to sell alcohol or not today (Friday).

Awberry Farm’s owners have already been given planning permission to convert some of the buildings to host weddings and events.

But the council has yet to approve a licence to allow it to sell booze.

The licencing committee delayed making a decision the last time it met, asking for more information on the potential impact of the site on local residents.

So far, 15 locals have objected to the application, believing that that the granting of the licence would be noisy, create anti social behaviour, traffic and safeguarding issues.

But 27 are in support of the application, saying it will benefit the local economy.

The committee meets again today, where it has to decide whether to allow alcohol or not.
