Beenham youngsters stump up £10k for play equipment
As part of the school's eco project, the pupils decided they wanted to make improvements to the school grounds and have new equipment installed that was more agility based.
So the whole school community set about raising the £10,000 needed for the equipment.
The money was raised through various events including cake sales and car boot sales.
It took just over a year for the money to be raised.
Teacher at the school, Melanie Wilkes, who organised the fundraising challenge, said: "I think it's amazing that they started with nothing.
"They got everybody on side and got everybody to contribute.
"They were just so enthusiastic and it was satisfying for them to see their work.
"It's theirs, it was their idea and so they have ownership of it - it's very much their thing."
During the launch event last Friday, the year seven pupils who have now left the school but were involved in the fundraising were invited back to see the equipment.
The pupils still have more funds to raise as they want to also improve the land to be able to grow vegetables and build an outdoor stage in the school grounds.
