Beer festival-goers raise a glass to Jemma
Held at the Taste of England pub, Lower Henwick Farm, the event was raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in memory of Jemma Shearsby, who died in February, aged 21, after a
life-long battle with the disorder.
It has been estimated that more than £350 was raised.
One of the organisers, Brian Newman, who was Mrs Shearsby’s driving instructor, said that he wanted to thank all the people who gave up their spare time to help make the event a success.
He said: “The response from people was absolutely superb.
"Jemma was a student of mine at about 17 and 18 years old.
"She was a very hard-working student and she was determined to pass her test – which she did first time.
"I kept in touch with her ever since then, so it didn't take much persuading for me to do this for Cystic Fibrosis.
“I also wanted to make people aware, so we were handing out leaflets, too.”
