Beijing torch ignites Olympic fever in Newbury

The torch was brought to Hogshead in Wharf Street on Saturday on behalf of Coca Cola, with hundreds of customers getting the chance to hold and have their photograph taken with the iconic sporting symbol.
Deputy manager of Hogshead, Matt Newman said: “It was a fantastic honour that Coca Cola picked our pub to showcase the torch.
“It was a great opportunity for the people of Newbury to see at first hand one of the greatest sporting symbols of our era.
“The event created a lot of interest and we were able to promote the torch relay through Newbury next month.”
The pub was also fundraising throughout the weekend for Naomi House Hospice, Hampshire, and raised £105.
