Bellydancing and vegetable Olympics? It must be Feel Good Fortnight!
The bellydancers - students of the Santa Maria Bellydance Academy, which meets on Monday evenings at the Allenova School of Dance in Thatcham - helped to kick off the Feel Good Fortnight across West Berkshire on Saturday (28), with a costumed performance in the Market Place.
“Students from the Santa Maria Bellydance Academy brought sparkle to Newbury Town Centre and inspiration to the women of Newbury and encourage them to take up the offer of free bellydance classes for Feel Good Fortnight,” said principal of the academy, Helen Ainslie.
The fortnight includes hundreds of free activities across the district during the two weeks, with a vegetable Olympic challenge which was also held on Saturday in Englefield.
The challenge was run by Five A Day Market Garden, which runs community gardening, wildlife and environmental projects, with activities including a runner bean relay and the tomato and spoon race, with fruit, vegetables and plants also on sale.
Free of charge Feel Good Fortnight activities this Saturday (May 5) include: Dowsing and Crystal Healing, in Kings Road West and tennis coaching for ages five to 12, at Newbury Tennis Club, in Shaw.
