Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs charity is homeless

The charity has to leave its current home after a review of the building's lease

BERKSHIRE Search and Rescue Dogs are desperately searching for a new headquarters after being given four weeks notice to move out of its current premises.

The charity has been in the same building on the Wokingham/Bracknell border for two years, but now says it has to move because the building's lease is under review.

The team need a storage area the size of a domestic garage for equipment and a meeting room to accommodate 20 people.

There would need to be 24 hour access as the team are called out any time day or night to look for missing people.

Daryl Toogood, chairman of the Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs, said: “Ideally we would like these both in the same area, but we are more than happy to negotiate anything in the short term.”

Originally formed in 2002 and gaining UK charity status in 2004, Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs assist Thames Valley Police and other Emergency Services in searching for lost or missing vulnerable people.

The team, which is made up of volunteers, are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year waiting for a call to offer assistance that could end a family's suffering.
