Dog of the Week: The latest dogs looking for their forever homes from Newbury Dogs Trust
Welcome to this week’s Dog of the Week.
Dogs Trust Newbury has a number of dogs at its Hamstead Marshall base who need a new home.
And so every Sunday we will continue to shine a spotlight on one of them to try to help spread the word.
Nationwide, the charity currently has 692 dogs that are looking for a family to join.
You can find out more about adopting a dog by visiting the charity’s website.
Today we have a delightful duo looking to be rehomed together.
Nala and Chappo are Shar Peis, who are looking for a home with a private garden for them to play in and a family who are happy to continue their training.
Nala is a sweet four-year-old who, if given a little time and patience, will soon become a loyal and loving best friend.
The trust said that she “finds a lot of confidence from being with her best friend Chappo” after they arrived together when their owner could no longer look after them.
“With the help of Chappo and a lot of patience from her handlers, she is finally coming out of her shell,” they said.
“Nala loves snuggling up to Chappo and being in his company. She is incredibly intelligent and loves to learn new things, particularly how to solve puzzle toys.
“Nala loves to use her nose and will often follow scent trails around our fields without a care in the world.
“She can be wary of the vets and invasive handling so is looking for a home with adopters who can help her to blossom and continue her training.”
Chappo is a quirky three-year-old who the trust describe as “a one-of-a-kind sort of guy”.
“He is a little shy at first but with a bit of time and a fair few treats, he will be your friend in no time,” they added.
“His favourite thing to do when he first sees his favourite people is to give them a big old kiss.
“When Chappo first arrived here at Newbury he needed some time to figure out his new surroundings as he found it very overwhelming.
“With the help of his best friend Nala and a lot of patience from his handlers, he is finally coming out of himself.
“The pair enjoy spending their downtime snuggling up together and giving each other a smooch.”
