Best wishes for West Berkshire for 2015
Newbury resident Anthony Whittam, aged 32, said he would be celebrating 10 years of being with his wife Sarah and also their second child’s first birthday.
Mrs Whittam added that her mantra for the year would be: “Be patient and be happy.”
Retired insurance worker Mrs Davies, of Ashmore Green, a mother of two and grandmother of one, said: “It’s going to be a special year. My grandson will be turning 16 and will visit Zambia with his school and I will turn 70 in March.”
She predicted that housing would be the hot topic of 2015 for the local area. She sent this New Year’s message to local residents: “I wish that everything is well and that everybody gets the happiness that they deserve.”
A 40-year-old Newbury resident, who gave his name only as Simon, said his New Year’s goals were to get promoted at work and to “maybe find a lady”.
He said: “Hopefully this year is going to be more positive. Live for the future and not for the past.”
Tadley boy band Concept contacted the NWN to say: “To all the people who have shown us support along our journey, we love you. We appreciate your time and effort – we’re so fortunate to have such an incredible fan base.
“We hope you have an awesome New Year – see you in 2015 with some brand new music.”
Newbury MP Richard Benyon wished people in West Berkshire a peaceful and prosperous 2015.
He said he was looking forward to the completion of the new renal dialysis unit at the West Berkshire Community Hospital and added that he wanted local people to feel the benefits of the economic recovery.
Looking back on 2014, Mr Benyon said: “I’m more positive about life in West Berkshire. I want West Berkshire to be the best place to live in the country and to start or grow a business.”
Newbury mayor Jo Day said: “Newbury is a community with a good heart and I would like to thank the people who volunteer and help in any way.
“I want us to continue working together for the good of all, encourage further cooperation, kindness and concern for each other and for our environment and wish everybody a peaceful but productive, healthy and very happy New Year.”
