Big ‘thank you’ lunch for MND supporters





About 80 supporters of the Motor Neurone Disease Association sat down to a slap-up lunch at Basildon Village Hall, Upper Basildon, on March 10, as a thanks for their efforts.
Two of them, brother and sister Alex and Tanith MacColl, ran a 10k event the day before to push their total raised for the charity’s Reading and West Berkshire branch to £17,150.
Among the guests were West Berkshire Council chairman Adrian Edwards, Thatcham Rotary Club president Peter Bates and his wife Maggie, consultant neurologist and co-director of the Oxford Centre for MND Research and Care Dr Martin Turner and former president of the MND Association Lady Hallifax, .
The branch organises a thank you lunch every two years and has raised £63,000 and £50,000 each year respectively since the last event.
