Bike security advice at Newbury Retail Park

The Greenham neighbourhood policing team will be on hand to offer local residents advice on keeping bikes safe

FREE advice on securing bikes is being offered at Newbury Retail Park today (Saturday) by the Greenham neighbourhood policing team.

Officers will be on hand outside Boots from between 11am and 1pm to offer a bike coding service, distribute leaflets and offer crime reduction advice to local residents on keeping their bikes safe.

West Berkshire's crime reduction adviser, Romy Freiburghaus, said: “Don't give thieves an easy ride, make sure you get a good bike lock; a hardened steel D-shape lock is very effective.

“Have your bikes securely marked or engraved, and register it with www.immobilise.com

“This will help you to retrieve your bike in the unfortunate event that it is stolen and it will aid the police to catch the thieves.”
