Biomass plans afoot at Membury

Applicant Berkshire Pallets seeks planning permission to demolish an existing storage building to provide room for the venture.
In a design and access statement the company states: “Having weathered the recent economic slowdown and recession, Berkshire Pallets and Membury Business Park are now looking to expand operations on site with investment in renewable energy technology in the form of biofuel. It is intended to operate an on-site facility as both a user and supplier of biofuel energy in the form of recycled timber waste.”
Berkshire pallets has been operating from Membury Business Park since 2003.
The original buildings forming part of the airfield installation were built around 1942 and were used during the Second World War by the United States Army Air Forces and the Royal Air Force up until 1947.
