Birds of prey to join Beenham's wolves
Volunteers from SSE Utility Solutions in Thatcham spent two days at the centre in Butlers Farm K Wolf Conservation Trust creating falconry pens to house the birds of prey, which will go on display alongside the wolves later this year.
As well as building the six falconry pens, the 43 volunteers built and repaired platforms in the wolf enclosures, replaced a wooden bridge over a stream with a new aluminium version and painted the kennel blocks.
The business development officer at SSE Thatcham, Damien Hutchins, said: “It was a unique experience. Working with wolves in close proximity, is not something we do every day.”
The UK Wolf Conservation Trust thanked the staff for their efforts and said the birds had settled easily into their day aviaries.
