Bladebone chef hits back at negative review

Kiren Puri, who is also chef at the Bladebone Inn, felt compelled to respond to what he described as an unfair reflection.
The Bladebone Inn is currently rated ninth out of 329 restaurants in the Reading area on the site, with 91 per cent of reviewers recommending it.
The village pub was also awarded the website’s certificate of excellence and boasts a four-star rating among users.
The debate started when an anonymous customer complained that his beef ribs and marrow bone smoked mash was “practically inedible” and left a one-star rating.
Mr Puri then took to the site to vent his frustration, saying: “You claim to be foodies.
"I have never met a self-professed foodie start his meal with a bowl of chips.”
His response to the review became an internet sensation and garnered messages of support from across the globe, although it has since been taken down from Tripadvisor, a site which allows people to leave reviews of restaurants, pubs, hotels and attractions.
Mr Puri, who has trained in Michelinstar restaurants around the world, explained his actions to the Newbury Weekly News.
“I just felt that the review was an unfair reflection on the evening,” he said. “We are just a local pub trying to do great things and provide excellent service.
"We are not snobby or pretentious and it is upsetting for us to get this kind of review.”
Talking about the dish he served, he said: “I picked out the bone and it slid straight out, which is a sign it has been braised correctly.
If I could have cooked it better I would like to know how.
“To be honest, my biggest regret is posting it now.
"It has gone all around the world, which I didn’t expect.
"I just want the pub to be known for what it is good at, providing great food.
“Unfortunately, everyone has the right to say what they want regardless of whether they are right or wrong.”
