Bladebone pub to reopen following extensive refurbishment

Pub has been closed since March

THE Bladebone Inn at Chapel Row will reopen in the New Year following an extensive refurbishment.

Owner Enterprise Inns is giving the pub a new lease of life, spending around £50,000 on a new kitchen, redecorating the toilets and improving the conservatory and garden and hope to have it open by the second week of January 2016.

The pub has been boarded up since May 2015.

The new landlord will be local businessman Richard Sanderson, who runs RS Catering and Events based in Thatcham and previously worked at Roebuck Inn in Marlborough, Wiltshire.

Dean Allum will be running the kitchen.

Mr Allum, who lives in Newbury, has a wealth of experience, having previously worked as a chef at The Vineyard at Stockcross, The Crab and Boar in Chieveley, The Newbury Manor Hotel and The Halfway House on the A4 near Hungerford.

Speaking to the Newbury Weekly News this week, Mr Allum said: “It’s shaping up nicely and we can’t wait to get started.

“It is going to be very much gastropub food like it was before, but we want to retain that feel of a local pub where people can come in for a pint after walking the dogs or going for a shoot.

“I’ve known Richard for years and it will be great to work alongside him.”
