Blaze destroys roof of family home

Crews from Mortimer, Dee Road and Whitely Wood along with the aerial appliance and the multi-role vehicle were called to the fire in Southwood Gardens at about 12.10am.
The occupants of the three-bedroom semi-detached house were out of the property when crews arrived and firefighters had to remove part of the roof to put out the fire.
Crews were at the scene until about 2am and about 25 per cent of the roof was destroyed.
