Body found following Kingsclere house fire




A body was found inside a house following a fire in Kingsclere earlier today, police have confirmed.

Hampshire and Berkshire firefighters were called to the blaze at a property in King John Road at 11.15am.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: “We were called at 11.18am today [Tuesday] to a report of a fire at an address on King John Road in Kingsclere.

“A body was found inside the property.

“Enquiries are under way to determine the cause of the fire.”

Formal identification has yet to take place.

Firefighters from Kingsclere, Basingstoke, Tadley, Fleet, Whitchurch and Sutton Scotney attended the scene, assisted by RBFRS crews from Newbury.

Crews used breathing apparatus sets, hose reels, jets and ventilation fans to contain the blaze.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Hampshire and Berkshire firefighters were called to a house fire in Kingsclere this morning at 11.15.

"Firefighters from Kingsclere, Basingstoke, Tadley, Fleet, Whitchurch and Sutton Scotney were assisted by RBFRS crews from Newbury.

"Smoke was issuing from the property which was well alight upon arrival.

"Police and ambulance colleagues are also in attendance.

"The fire is now out with three fire engines set to remain on the scene as the other appliances return to station.”
