Body found in search for missing Newbury man

A body has been found in the search for a man reported missing from Newbury at the weekend.

Thames Valley Police has confirmed this lunchtime that British Transport Police officers responded to a report of a casualty on the tracks near Newbury railway station at 12.30am on Sunday.

Paramedics also attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said that they “believe the deceased to be Colin, aged 59, who was reported missing from the town on Sunday”.

In a statement TVP added: “Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

“The death is deemed to be unexplained but not suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
