Body found near Silchester




Police say the death of a man found on Monday, believed to be from the village, is not suspicious

POLICE are not treating the death of a man whose body was found near Silchester on Monday (February 28) as suspicious.

Detectives from Hampshire police launched an investigation after the body of a man - believed to have lived in Silchester - was found near Minchams Bridge, Bramley at 7am on Monday.

The man has not yet been formally identified, but Hampshire police spokeswoman, Vicky O'Hare, today (Thursday) said the man was in his sixties and the case was now in the hands of the north east Hampshire coroner. She confirmed that the death was not being treated as suspicious.

Coroner's officer, David Richards, said a post mortem had been carried out on Tuesday (March 1) and an inquest was expected to be opened tomorrow.
