Bollards on Lawrences Lane disappear as experimental prohibition of motor vehicle order continues

There is still time to submit a consultation response on the Lawrences Lane experimental prohibition of motor vehicle order.

Bollards were installed on the lane restricting access through the road shortly after the order came into effect in July.

The public consultation is set to run until January 19.

However, the bollards have recently been removed, along with a notice, leading to some vehicles using the route again.

Chairman of Thatcham Town Council's planning and highways committee Simon Pike (Lib Dem, Thatcham West) said sat nav recommendation of the lane may also be a contributing factor to the recent vehicle use.

The Newbury Weekly News has asked West Berkshire Council why and when the bollards were removed but has not yet received a response.

Thatcham Town Council continued its support of the order in December – though not unanimously.
