Bonfire near central Newbury building




Street blaze behind Northbrook Street extinguished

Firefighters extinguished a bonfire near a building in central Newbury yesterday evening (Thurs) , following reports of smoke in the area.

One fire engine was called at 7.30pm from Newbury Fire Station to an uncontrolled bonfire near to building in West Street , at the rear of Northbrook Street.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze with a hosereel and departed the scene after 20 minutes.

The cause was put down to controlled burning.
