Both Newbury Thomas Cook stores saved from the chop

The news comes following an announcement from the company on Wednesday that it had entered a 90 day consultation period with its UK staff, with aims to cut 2,500 jobs and 195 of its travel agencies.
The company said in a statement that a number of the stores scheduled for closure did not meet performance targets and were in communities with more than one retail outlet.
However, a spokeswoman for Thomas Cook, Emma Staples, said that the announcement was good news for Newbury as both stores would be saved.
She said that this was because the stores served a large area.
There was further good news for the town as the Dreams bed store has also survived a wave of closures after the company entered administration on Tuesday before being sold to Sun Capital Partners.
