The Lion in Newbury and The Bell at Aldworth in The Telegraph’s Best 500 Pubs in England list
Two West Berkshire pubs have been recognised nationally for their quality, writes Bethany Sirianni.
The Lion, on a corner in West Street, Newbury, has been officially named one of the Best 500 Pubs in England by The Telegraph.
It says The Lion is loved locally for its live music, televised sport, welcoming atmosphere, array of drinks and fantastic menu.
The family-run pub is praised for its community spirit and friendly atmosphere.
The Bell Inn at Aldworth has also received commendation in The Telegraph’s top 500.
It has also been awarded both the West Berkshire Branch Pub of the Year and also the Berkshire Pub of the Year from the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).
The CAMRA awards are judged on many criteria including, service, style, community focus, quality of the food and overall impression.
The awards will be presented to The Bell on Saturday between 2pm and 3pm by Allan Willoughby, the Berkshire co-ordinator.
