Rotary Club of Newbury Boules on the Square tournament on Sunday

The Rotary Club of Newbury is holding it's annual Boules in the Square tournament in Newbury's Market Place on Sunday.

Spectators are welcome and it may be possible to accommodate one or two late team entries.

Teams are ready to commence and recommence rivalries, with Team Willow and Blooms keen to once again lift the trophy they won in 2019.

Team Newbury Town Councillors, which will include mayor Gary Norman, may have something to say about that!

The Rotary Club said: "What an ideal way to kick start social interaction once again

"Let’s take this opportunity to build team work while having a fun day in a competitive spirit with friends and colleagues.

"After our very successful eighth year of the Boules in the Square in 2019, we are delighted that our annual tournament is able to recommence this year.

"We currently have 14 teams from the local business and voluntary community sector and we would be keen to hear from any business who would also like to help sponsor or take part in the event.

"This will all help us to support our nominated local charities."

The tournament will take place on Sunday, starting at 10am and finishing around 4pm.

There will be four pistes set up in the market square for playing competition games.

Local businesses are invited to enter a team/teams of four people – entry cost is £60. Or they can sponsor a piste for £220, which includes team entry.

If you wish to be a sponsor of Boules in the Square or are interested in entering a company team, contact Graeme Leech at boules@newburyrotary.org
