Dog of the Week: The latest dogs looking for their forever homes from Newbury Dogs Trust
Dogs Trust Newbury has a number of dogs at its Hamstead Marshall base who need a new home.
And every Sunday we have been shining a spotlight on one of them to try to help spread the word.
Nationwide, the charity currently has 713 dogs that are looking for a family to join.
You can find out more about adopting a dog by visiting the charity’s website.
Today we have bubbly Buddy to introduce you to.
He is a “bouncy, loving” 11-month-old Lurcher, who “absolutely loves human company”.
His current handlers at Dogs Trust have said he is very affectionate with them,
“He loves his toys and is always excited to meet dogs out and about,” they added.
“Buddy is still a young boy who is learning basic manners and will need to continue this in his new home.
“Sadly, Buddy came to us with an old injury to his back leg, which has required some medical investigation and hydrotherapy sessions, which he has shown to be a fan of and is always keen to get in.”
Due to this injury Buddy would benefit from a home without a large number of steps or stairs, as he will probably be prone to arthritis because of this injury.
He could live with another dog, but definitely cannot be rehomed with any cats or other small animals due to the prey drive his handlers have seen.
They also said he could live with older children, who are comfortable with large, bouncy dogs.
