Boy arrested on suspicion of assault in Victoria Park




Police appeal for witnesses to an attack in the park in Newbury on Monday evening

THAMES Valley Police has arrested a teenage boy on suspicion of assault following an incident in Newbury.

The boy, from Thatcham, has been arrested in connection with an incident in Victoria Park on Monday evening (July 4).

Sgt Andy Bone, who is investigating the incident, said: “We believe that the victim, a man, was kicked from behind, causing him to fall down some stairs.

“Officers were quickly on the scene and made an arrest but the victim and another witness had already left the area.

“I would urge the victim and anyone who witnessed this incident, who has not yet come forward to police, to speak to me urgently.”

The arrested boy has been released on bail to return to Newbury police station on 23 July.
