The caution follows a call to the Thames Valley Police control room at about 3pm on June 19 this year.
The caller stated that someone was trying to steal piglets from a farm in Compton and that he was being threatened by the offenders.
Officers were sent to the scene but the owner of the farm had no knowledge of the incident.
Later that day a 14-year-old boy from Hermitage was arrested on suspicion of wasting police time.
The boy later admitted the offence and has been given an official caution.
