It's the 'boys' turn to shine this morning (Sun) as the annual Boys Beating Cancer charity fundraiser gets underway in Hermitage - then flit over to Lambourn Carnival, which kicks off later today - and don't miss the final day of Newbury's Waterways Festival - or an exciting day in the horse racing calendar at Newbury Racecourse and ... there's more.
In aid of Cancer Research UK and open to men and boys of all ages, the Boys Beating Cancer races start at Newbury showground at 10.30am, with a choice of 1k family run, 5k or 10k distances, with all entrants to receive a medal and goodie bag. A flotilla of boats continues to bob in the wharf, on the second day of Newbury's Waterways Festival, with chance to 'daytrip' on the Jubilee, alongside stalls, entertainment and food in Victoria Park, culminating in the ever popular duck race.
Over at Newbury Racecourse, a crowd of some 10,000 is expected from 1pm at the Arabian 'give-away' day, featuring eight races and horses from 12 nations, with competitions for the best dressed 'lady' and best children's hat - and chance to win a brand new Citroen C1 in a prize draw raffle.
For a family afternoon out of simple fun, head over to Ashmansworth, where a scarecrow competition takes place on Ashmansworth Memorial Green, between 2pm and 4pm, on a Heroes and Heroines theme, with chance for visitors to vote for their favourite 'crow.'
The village is also hosting open gardens and teas will also be served - more details and maps available from Ashmansworth Village Hall.
Lambourn Carnival swings into action from 5pm at the sports club and it's the Dubai International Race Day at Newbury Racecourse, gates open at 12pm.
Alternatively head over to Cobbs Farm, Hungerford, for (free of charge) Birds of Prey demonstrations, from 10am to 4pm.
