Bradfield nursery rated "outstanding" for third time in a row
IT WAS celebration time again for a West Berkshire nursery last month after the country’s inspector for schools found the facilities to be ‘outstanding’ for the third time in a row.
The Village Montessori Nursery School in Bradfield Southend was inspected by Ofsted on June 29 and was roundly praised for its pupil progress, safety protocols, and the knowledge and training of its staff.
The inspection found that the school met the top category for each of the areas on which it was inspected.
The report notes: “Children of all ages make excellent progress in their learning and development because staff nurture their interests and challenge their thinking.
“Staff work well with parents to implement highly effective support for children’s speech and early literacy skills.
“This is particularly beneficial for children who are learning English as an additional language as they rapidly close gaps in their learning.
“Staff adapt their teaching and use of resources exceptionally well to suit the developmental needs of each child.
“Staff skilfully ensure that children are confident and have the necessary skills needed for their future learning and school.”
Staff were also praised for their knowledge of child protection policy and procedures and in safeguarding the welfare of children.
The report added that: “Standards of care, welfare, and safety across the setting are high.”
Inspectors identified only one area in which it could improve – to enhance opportunities for children by encouraging them to find out about different ways of life and jobs within the wider community.
Speaking of the achievement headteacher Mrs Maclean said: “The Ofsted inspector acknowledged that this is an exceptional nursery school due to the highly qualified and experienced teachers who use the rich learning environments to spark
children’s enthusiasm and
encourage their desire for further knowledge.
“It is a tribute to all the teachers that through their dedication and professionalism we have again demonstrated that our Montessori Nursery School is worthy and well deserved of this ‘outstanding’ decision.
“It is also an acknowledgement of the tremendous and positive parental support for the school.”
The nursery which has ten members of staff currently has 32 children on roll between the ages of 2 and 5 out of a total roster of 36, and was first registered in 1992.
