Brides dust down gowns for charity

Wasing estate cheque presentation

Brides who dusted down their gowns to return to the Wasing Estate raised £530 for a local children’s hospice – set to double thanks to match funding.

The fundraiser saw a recent gathering of former brides, once more dressed in their gowns, taken out of storage, for a memorable evening of wine, fine dining, music and good company at the estate, with proceeds in aid of Naomi House Children’s Hospice, Sutton Scotney.

A £530 cheque was recently presented to a representative of Naomi House, also at the estate – with this amount set to be doubled, thanks to match funding by Greenham Common Trust.

Organiser, Charlotte Goble, said a grant aplication by Naomi House for funds for a new kitchen was listed on the findmeagrant.org website, with Greenham Common Trust pledged to match fund £16,000 towards this adding:

“Any donations made through this [findmeagrant website] would be greatly appreciated.

“We donated the money raised via this doubling our donation.”

The initiative is part of the Naomi house Caterpillar appeal, launched last year to raise £4m to fund the complete redevelopment of Naomi House.

“They have raised £3.1 million so far so still have about £1 million to go,” said Ms Goble.

Naomi House is currently supporting 287 families across the seven counties of central southern England.
