Brightwalton Primary School takes on Skipping Challenge

A Newbury primary school put a skip in its step on Friday after hosting a skipping workshop in an effort to get its pupils active.

The 2-minute Skipping Challenge at Brightwalton Primary School was organised by Skip2bfit and challenged students to complete as many skips as possible for the duration. Newbury MP Richard Benyon was also on hand to support the project and took part in the challenge, managing 107 skips.

Top pupil on the day was Year 6 Ruby Rainbow who did 186 skips and top teacher went to Mrs Clarke with 120.

John from Skip2bfit said: “It is great to see the children skipping. Our message is simple, we can not all be the best, but we can improve our personal best.

“I would like to congratulate the children in particular on their behaviour throughout the day.”

At the end of each session as part of the project each child is given fresh blueberries and a health leaflet to help promote a healthy message.
