Brimpton youngster top of the table in national racing competition
Elstree school pupil Adam Collings, aged 12, proudly stood in third place (pictured) following his race in the 85cc small wheel category at the LG Arena, Birmingham, last Saturday (25), and again in second place at the Liverpool Echo Arena on Sunday.
These were the third and fourth rounds of seven in the competition and the results have left him top of the table with the highest number of points so far.
Arenacross is an indoor version of motocross racing and takes place on short tracks which require racers to battle with high jumps and tight corners.
Adam, who is sponsored by Brimpton business Vega Solutions, joined Banbury Motorcross Club in 2010 and in 2012 won their 65cc championship.
He has since progressed into national competitions and last year he came 12th in the British Youth Nationals and 20th in the Red Bull Elite Youth Cup.
His dad, David Collings, said: “It’s quite a big thing for him to get onto the podium in front of tens of thousands of people.
“We are delighted that Adam is succeeding in a sport in which he is so passionate.”
The final of the Garmin Arenacross Series is taking place at Wembley Arena on March 1.
