Bring out the performer in you

THE Corn Exchange is inviting local performers to share their talents in front of a live audience at an Open Mic night with a bit of a twist. Live and Lyrical, a new initiative, welcomes a variety of acts from poets, to comedians, to singer-writers. Taking place in the relaxed atmosphere of the Balcony Bar next Thursday, February 21, this new, regular event aims to encourage local people to get together and support creativity. Live and Lyrical makes up a part of a thriving Get Involved programme that also included Poetry in Practice (open workshops for local writers), Saturday Stories (where local volunteers read stories for families with children under 5) and Young Corn Exchange (who hold their social events once a month). Oxford actor/poet Steve Hay will compare the evening. Steve also has run his own poetry event in Oxford for a number of years. All acts must be acoustic. Performers are allocated a slot on a first come first serve basis and all performers will get a free drink at the bar. To book, call the box office on 0845 5218 218 or go online to

. If you would like to perform please let the box office know when making your booking.
