Burger me! What a lot of meat at Newbury pub's food challenge

The Starting Gate, in Brummell Road, started their Meat-O-Rama Challenge, which involves eating a £12.99 burger stack, consisting of three homemade 7oz burgers, three sausages, two rashers of bacon and 6oz gammon - topped with BBQ sauce.
“As part of the challenge you also have to clear the chips and salad that comes with it. You are timed all the way through the challenge,” said landlady Claire Seymour.
Those that finish receive a special T-shirt and their name will be placed on a winners board.
“At the end of the year, the fastest time receives the giant Meat-O-Rama trophy with a framed picture of them next to the winners board,” added Miss Seymour.
Among those giving the challenge a trial run on Tuesday (Apr 3) was Shellie (Michelle) Cook, Miss Seymour’s life partner: ”I gave up after 23 minutes and had a burger left. It’s massive!” she said.
