Burghclere man who died following Basingstoke collision is named
According to a statement released on Sunday (Mar 4) by Hampshire Constabulary, James Beatson, aged 71, from Elkington Close, died following a 12.40pm collision on Roman Road.
Mr Beatson was driving a red Renault Megane when he was in collision with an Audi TT Quattro, at the junction with Wellington Terrace.
He was taken to the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital with life threatening injuries. He died shortly after his arrival.
The driver of the Quattro, a 57-year-old Tadley woman, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham as a precaution.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw either vehicle prior to it, to call Pc Adrian Rosser at Farnborough Roads Policing Unit on the non emergency number, 101, quoting Operation Kell.
