Burghclere Miniature Railway running this Sunday in aid of Ukraine

The Burghclere Miniature Railway is set for its first official public running day of the year this Sunday – and will donate all the profits to the Ukraine humanitarian appeal.

The railway – at Burghclere Sports Club – only runs on certain days of the year, and on Sunday it will be hosting its family running day.

There will be steam engines running between 11am and 3pm at £1 per ride, and the railway’s “now famous BBQ” will be in operation along with the club bar and facilities.

The railway will be open this Sunday (55347281)

The railway said on Facebook: “Please come and join us for a ride as this running day is particularly important to us at the BMR.

“All profits from the day are being donated to the British Red Cross for DEC Ukraine humanitarian appeal.

“We hope that our efforts and your money will go a small way to help alleviate someone’s suffering in this awful crisis.”

The DEC – Disasters Emergency Committee - brings together 15 UK aid charities, including the British Red Cross, to raise funds quickly and efficiently at times of crisis overseas.

More than £100m has already been raised by the committee since it launched its Ukraine appeal on March 3.

A total of £55m was raised on its first day, including donations from the Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Cambridge, plus £20m from the Government as part of its UK Aid Match scheme.
