Firefighters battle fire for over three hours

Two artic lorry trailers at a Burghfield recycling company were destroyed in a fire battled by firefighters for over three hours during the early hours of this morning (Friday).

Four firefighting crews, from Dee Road Fire Station, Reading, Whitley Wood, Mortimer and Wokingham Road, were called at 12.30am to John Mould, Pingewood Road, where the trailers of two artic lorries, loaded with waste, were well alight, with flames issuing from the fire.

Three firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used three jets to extinguish the fire, using water pumped from a lake.

The fire destroyed both lorry trailers, according to firefighters at the scene.

Firefighters left the scene at 4am.

The cause was under investigation by the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS).

John Mould is a demolition, recycling and decontamination company.
