Burghfield planning appeal for 32 homes goes to public inquiry

An appeal against West Berkshire Council's rejection of 32 new homes in Burghfield will be decided by a public inquiry.

WBC refused planning permission on land behind the Hollies Nursing Home, in Reading Road, due to a lack of affordable housing and the site's proximity to AWE Burghfield should a radiation incident occur.

Local people also objected to the plans, citing concerns over road safety, increased traffic and an adverse impact on the surrounding environment. Part of the allocated site has already received permission for 28 residential dwellings.
