Bus shelter crush prompts calls for public safety check

The bus stop, at the eastern end of Greyberry Copse Road in Pigeons Farm was left badly damaged by the incident and it is unclear whether it can be repaired.
West Berkshire Council’s contractor, Volker Highways, who removed the tree, have found an exposed electric cable which they believe is from where the bus shelter electrical box was burst open by the impact.
Mr Forward said: “My concern is that given that trees in Pigeon’s Farm were considered to be unsafe near housing and were culled, this is all part of the same woodland.
“Perhaps the whole of the woodland needs to be checked for public safety.”
Public Transport Officer for West Berkshire Council, Clive Tombs, has asked Volker Highways to make it a priority to make safe by isolating the supply.
