Butt Inn's £270,000 relaunch
The Butt Inn on Aldermaston Wharf ceased trading in mid December last year.
However, it is currently being transformed in a programme masterminded by owner Punch Taverns and new licensees Rob and Catherine Davies.
The refurbishment work started during the last week of March and is scheduled for completion in time for the pub to re-open on Monday, April 30.
Externally, the Butt Inn is being redecorated with new signage and lighting.
A more formal ceremony will follow one week later on Thursday, May 3.
Mrs Davies said: “The inside has been completely transformed with new floors, re-panelling of the walls, the bar configuration changed, fireplaces restored, and the toilets refurbished to a very high standard. It is going to be very beautiful, when all the work is finished.
“I get people knocking on the door every day asking when the pub will be re-opening. The feedback from them has been very positive,”
When the pub re-opens, food will be high on the agenda. All new equipment has been fitted in the kitchen and Mr Davies - former executive head chef at the nearby Bearwood Lake golf course -will oversee the operation.
A section inside the 1920s-built pub will be set aside as the restaurant area with an a la carte menu. Elsewhere, bar snacks and more traditional pub food like soup, jacket potatoes and burgers will be available.
For the grand re-opening ceremony, customers will be offered free drinks and canapés to celebrate the Butt Inn’s transformation.
Spokesman for Punch Taverns, Richard Pask, said: “This is a massive investment for the community and the future of the pub by Punch Taverns. Rob and Catherine are fantastic partners to support and will do very well for the business.
“The Butt Inn is a much-loved amenity and we are delighted to be playing a part in ensuring its remains at the heart of the local community.”
