C'adora Eagles Motorcycle Club 50 year reunion tonight (Sat)
Now, although by his own admission he is more ‘geriatric than Hell’s Angel’, 67-year-old father of two Robert ‘Jock’ Fisher is looking forward to joining former members of the ‘C’adora Eagles’ club for a special 50-year reunion at Shaw Social Club tonight at 7pm.
The club was formed when Mr Fisher’s friend, Jan Roberts, painted a silver eagle, taken from the comic of the same name, on the back of his black leather jacket. C’adora originated from the name of a café on the corner of Enborne Road, run by Terry Lanni, where the group spent much of their leisure time.
The number of ‘Eagles’ soon grew, with around 40 motorbike enthusiasts from Hungerford, Newbury, Thatcham and Andover joining.
Last year, the Newbury Weekly News ran a story in which Mr Fisher appealed to former members to get in touch.
Since then, two founder members have contacted him and will be travelling from as far as Australia and Wales to be there.
Reminiscing, Mr Fisher said: “It was just an incredible part of our lives.
“We all really enjoyed each other’s company and had some fantastic days and nights out riding.
“It started out with just a few of us and grew and grew and grew. We were a great gang together, it was absolutely superb and kept us out of trouble.
“Motorcyclists have always had this great camaraderie that still exists today.
“I moved away and got married and others did the same and sadly we just ended up losing touch with some of them.”
Mr Fisher, who owned a Triumph Tiger 90 throughout his days as an ‘Eagle’, has not lost his passion – he still rides and is an active member of the Vintage Motor Cycle Club, West Wiltshire Section, organising events and holidays.
Mr Fisher has encouraged anyone wanting more information to contact him by calling (01285) 860130, emailing bob.fisher2@virgin.net or by writing to him at 23 The Lennards, South Cerney, Cirencester, Gloucs, GL7 5UX.
