Calcot course on coping strategies for carers

Support workshop to relieve stress

Coping strategies for carers will be on the agenda at a free Calcot course on Wednesday (April 22).

Organised by Berkshire Carers Service and Empowering West Berkshire to mark the district's Feelgood Fortnight, the workshop will help people who are looking after ill, or disabled family members, to gain new strategies for improving their mood and stress levels.

Davinda Jammu, contract manager with Berkshire Carers Service, said the workshop was aimed at supporting the health and wellbeing of unpaid carers and continued:

"Caring for someone can be very stressful and many carers report physical and emotional exhaustion.

"Many carers put the person they care for first, but looking after themselves is the best way they can ensure they can carry on caring."

The workshop will help those taking part to notice their stress levels and mood and introduce positive ways to improve it.
