Passenger in van suffers fatal injuries after incident in Calcot on Sunday morning

A MAN has died after the vehicle he was travelling in left the road and hit a tree in The Chase, Calcot, on Sunday.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to the fatal collision, which occurred at 4am in the morning.

The vehicle, a blue Peugeot minivan, was carrying a driver and one passenger.

The driver suffered abdominal injuries and was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading.

The front seat passenger, a 21 year-old man from Calcot, suffered serious injuries and was taken to the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford where he died at around 1pm yesterday (Monday).

Sgt Richard Thorpe from the Road Death Investigation Unit said: "Although no other vehicle was involved and it was very early in the morning we would ask for anyone with any information about this accident to please get in touch."
