A scheme that gives people a lift needs drivers.

Volunteers are wanted by the Burghfield and Mortimer Volunteer Bureau.

They would pick up passengers who need to attend appointments at hospitals, GPs, dentists and opticians.

The drivers would wait while the session takes place and then take the passenger home again.

The bureau says the scheme could be ideal for someone who has recently retired, or has some time to volunteer.

The scheme operates during daytimes on weekdays, and an allowance of 50p per mile is available to cover motoring expenses.

Anyone who thinks they can help can email bureauvolunteer@gmail.com or call (0118) 983 1814 between 9.30am and 11.30am on weekdays.
