Camp Hopson to open new store in Northbrook Street within vacant Wilko unit

Camp Hopson will be expanding its retail offerings in Newbury by opening a new outlet in Northbrook Street.

The department store will expand with a new store that will be contained within the vacant unit previously occupied by Wilko.

Although development of the new outlet is within the very early stages, it is hoped that the outlet will open before Christmas as a furniture clearance store, before officially opening as a new shop in the spring.

It is likely that the new shop will contain a homeware department, and that Camp Hopson will expand its bed and furniture offerings within its current home store.

The new Northbrook Street shop will also contain a toy department.

Camp Hopson is part of the Morleys Stores Group alongside seven other department stores, all located in London.

Morleys Stores Group chief executive Nigel Blow said: “This will be quite a significant expansion of our presence in Newbury.

“We are proud of our presence here. We don’t want to see a big gaping hole on the high street.”

Morleys owns the vacant unit at 13-15 Northbrook Street.
